Biography

Andy Wood (MSE, PhD) is an expert in streamflow forecasting, hydrologic modeling and applications, land monitoring and prediction (e.g., for flooding and droughts), climate change downscaling and impact assessment, water resources management and planning, and seasonal climate and hydrologic forecasting. His current research focus areas include improving operational hydrologic prediction at local to global scales, sub-seasonal to seasonal hydroclimate applications, climate change impact assessment, and advancing the implementation of hydrology and land representations in Earth System Models.

Andy splits his time between Mines and the NCAR Climate and Global Dynamics laboratory, Terrestrial Sciences Section, in Boulder, Colorado, where he is a project scientist.

Teaching

  • As an assistant research professor at the University of Washington, Andy taught an undergraduate class in Systems Engineering and a graduate class in Snow Hydrology. He recently developed and taught a CUAHSI short course on Ensemble Hydrologic Forecasting.
