Biography

Cara Phillips received her bachelor's degree from Colorado School of Mines and her master's degree from The University of Illinois-Urbana-Champaign.  She worked as a Structural Engineer for 13 years, getting her P.E.License in 2005.  Professor Phillips was a Design Engineer and Project Manager for various building types, sizes and materials across the United States.  She worked on many buildings at Colorado School of Mines including, The Student Recreation Center, Maple Hall and Brown Hall. 

Professor Phillips has a passion for teaching and learning and has spent the past 8 years teaching Engineering and Math at the secondary and post-secondary levels.  She is excited to return to her Alma matter and to teach Advanced Structural Design classes.
