Biography

Dr. Eve Mozur joined the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering in the summer of 2022.

The central question of Dr. Mozur’s scholarship is “Why do we use the materials that we use?”. Answering this question necessitates an atomistic and microscale understanding of the relationship between the structure and properties of the material in question. It also generates new questions, such as “What makes this material so effective in its application?” and “Are there better materials?” that the Mozur Research Group is equally interested in answering. Dr. Mozur is particularly excited about materials for renewable energy applications, with a focus on extended inorganic solids.

Students in Dr. Mozur’s research group will gain expertise in structure and property determination. We will use tools including diffraction, neutron and X-ray scattering, physical property measurements, and magnetometry to answer questions about the relationship between structure and functionality of a wide range of materials. Dr. Mozur has previously studied hybrid organic-inorganic materials for optoelectronic applications, oxides for next generation energy storage, and intermetallics with exotic magnetism.
