Biography
Jay Straker is Associate Professor in Humanities, Arts & Social Sciences at the Colorado School of Mines. His primary research focuses on youth, nationalism, ethnicity, cultural politics, and social conflict in West Africa. He is the author of Youth, Nationalism, and the Guinean Revolution (Indiana University Press, 2009), and a series of articles on the Republic of Guinea. Other research and teaching interests include postcolonial literature and ethnographies of landscape, urbanization and performance.
