Biography

Dr. Syd Slouka is a Teaching Assistant Professor in the Civil & Environmental Engineering department at the Colorado School of Mines. Her research focused on the characteristics and comparison of respirable rock dust generated from mechanical excavations with conical picks.

Formerly, Dr. Slouka was a mine ventilation engineer at a small-scale Colorado gold/silver mine and a geotechnical consultant with WSP. She is an Engineering Learning Fellow with the Trefny Center.  Dr. Slouka works to improve classroom experiences and study how pedagogical changes can enhance learning.
