Mines Professional Development
The future doesn't need more people who can simply access information. It needs people who solve complex problems and turn ideas into real-world solutions.
This is why Mines works directly with the best engineering companies in the world to define the professional skills our future demands. Then we build them into your student experience. As a result, you'll tackle practical challenges, work on team-based projects, collaborate with industry partners, present ideas and manage deadlines.
The result? You'll graduate ready for what's next, with hands-on experiences that demonstrate your skills in action and prepare you to make an impact from day one.
3 Pillars of Professional Development
The Proof
Professional Growth is Infused in Your Mines Experience
From your first semester, you'll work in teams to solve real-world challenges. These experiences strengthen communication, collaboration and project planning skills while building a strong technical foundation.
Cornerstone Design courses challenge you to solve open-ended engineering and scientific problems. Along the way, you'll manage projects, work through constraints and develop practical solutions with your teammates just as you will in professional engineering or scientific workplaces.
Through internships, research opportunities, competition teams and industry-sponsored projects, you'll strengthen your professional network and gain experience working with employers. You'll:
- Apply classroom learning to real challenges
- Build your professional network
- Gain experience working with industry-leading companies
- Explore potential career paths
- Strengthen leadership and communication skills
- Build a resume with meaningful experience that stands out to employers
As a senior, you’ll complete your undergraduate experience through Capstone Design projects sponsored by industry partners. Working on real organizational challenges, you'll define project goals, manage deliverables and develop solutions for industry clients.
