The Master of Science in Computer Science (Non-Thesis) focuses on advanced coursework and applied learning rather than a research thesis. The Mines Interactive Robotics Research Lab (MIRRORLab) develops intelligent agents designed to interact naturally with human teammates. Led by Associate Professor Tom Williams, the lab seeks to combine computational methods and insights from artificial intelligence, cognitive science, and human-robot interaction with robotic and augmented reality technologies.
The Center for Cyber Security and Privacy, led by Professor Chuan Yue, leverages the unique strengths of Mines in engineering and applied science to conduct research in web, mobile, cloud, cyber-physical, IoT and AI systems security, usable security and privacy, computer and network security, secure software development, applied cryptography, memory security and more.
The Pervasive Computing Systems Research Group designs algorithms, develops techniques and builds systems to enable pervasive and mobile computing applications. Led by Professor Qi Han, the group’s focus includes swarm/networked robot systems, mobile sensing, Internet of Things and multi-user augmented reality.
